Welcome to Operation Sight
We are driven by a singular passion: to restore vision and transform lives. As a non-profit organization based in South Carolina, our core focus is to provide life-changing, sight-saving surgeries to uninsured individuals grappling with cataracts and urgent, sight-threatening retinal disorders.
Our Board of Directors
Our team of dedicated professionals, volunteers, and supporters work tirelessly to bridge the gap between visual impairment and access to adequate eye care.
Our Mission
We believe that sight is not just a physical ability; it's a gateway to independence, productivity, and a better quality of life. By eradicating financial barriers that stand in the way of vision restoration, we aim to ensure that no one is left behind due to the inability to afford necessary eye treatments.
Join us in our mission to bring the gift of clear vision to those in need. Together, we're creating a community where every individual has the opportunity to see the world with clarity and hope.
Our Founders
In September 2011, a group of visionary social entrepreneurs recognized a pressing need to restore vision for uninsured South Carolina residents unable to afford cataract surgery. Esteemed physicians, Dr. John Boatwright, Dr. Paul Herring, and Dr. Kerry Solomon, motivated by a community challenge, spearheaded the Operation Sight project.
Their initiative inspired and rallied a team of volunteer healthcare providers—surgeons, surgical staff, ophthalmologists, optometrists, anesthesiologists, and various other healthcare professionals and administrators—to generously offer their time and expertise to this noble cause.
At present, Operation Sight boasts a team of over 80 dedicated volunteers, including skilled Ophthalmologists, Optometrists, Anesthesiologists, eye care technicians, surgery schedulers, and essential support staff. Together, their collective efforts have facilitated over 750 surgeries since the organization's inception, marking a remarkable journey of restoring sight and transforming lives.
Annual Reports
Welcome to Operation Sight's Fiscal Year 2022-23 Annual Report. The past year marked a remarkable period of growth and positive transformation for our organization.
We witnessed significant developments, including the revision of policies and procedures, the addition of four new esteemed board members, and ongoing exploration to enhance our services throughout South Carolina.
This growth, coupled with the substantial number of individuals served over the last 12 years, stands as a testament to the invaluable contributions of our dedicated volunteers and supporters.
